Bench The Škart Collective was founded in early 1990s at the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade. Their engagement in the field of visual arts and music is characterized by social activism and among the best known projects are: a poetic-graphic collection "Sadness", action "Your Shit – Your Responsibility", "Women Cooks" and other. One of their most important and most successful projects was Horkeškart (since this year also an independent Horkestar), amateur choir known by its specific music repertoire and performances starting from village schools, open-air markets, refugee camps to the Museum of Contemporary Art an Ring-Ring Festival of new music. The Škart Collective consisting of the founders Dragan Protić and Đorđe Balmazović, as well as affiliated associates, is a winner of numerous domestic and international artistic recognitions.

Selected projects and actions:

  • 2007 – New Embroideries, a project of connections realized in cooperation with the artistic-investigative project Reunion, B+B and women’s group of women embroiderers, London
  • 2006 – Horkeskart, Back, performance/action of civil disobedience, Belgrade
  • 2005 – HORKESKART, performance with the choir and orchestra, a tour around Germany
  • 2001 - Ten with onions, new embroidery, cooperation with the society of single mothers, Zemun
  • 1999 – FRON’t – art activism against violence, production in exile, Brussels
  • 1996 – POST ME; Alter Image Festival, Belgrade
  • 1993 – ARMATURES, hymn of architects/feat. Choir and orchestra "Stanković", Faculty of Architecture, Belgrade
