Robert James Kunz
Born in Seattle. After majoring in information, film and mathematics, he dedicated his work to audio engineering. "Inphaseprod" is the keyword for the form of professional work of this artist, which implies his solo artistic engagement in "enrichment" of the environment by sound, through construction, recording, development and application of sound but also technical support/assistance and education of others interested in realization of an audio project. In cooperation with musicians, directors and visual artists he has realized a number of projects, out of which the best known are: Audible Semaphore (Seattle, 2005), (Berlin, 2004), (Seattle, 2003), (Seattle, 2005); Roter Keller/Alcalica (Berlin, 2004); Degenerate Art Ensemble (Seattle, 2003); Infernal Noise Brigade (Seattle, 2003).
Description of the Project
The installation consists of 8 identical visually designed "sound sculptures" placed on the trees. The sculptures were designed to transmit a multi-channel sound composition characteristic for the place of implementation, i.e. Kalemegdan. The audio collages will consist of eight discreet sounds transmitted simultaneously through loudspeakers, creating an overall "diving" environment. The loudspeakers may also change the direction of transmission of sound in relation to turbulences provoked by the wind, creating a constant change of the sound atmosphere.
The sound compositions will consist of music elements (some of them recorded in Belgrade, some created by the author himself), which will mingle with the sounds recorded and "collected" by the author in different parts of the world. The combination of current and momentary, natural and produced sounds, strong enough to be heard and to have an impact on the audience, yet soft enough to localize the situation, will certainly provoke in listeners a reaction of never being sure whether it "appears" to them or whether it is a normal sound environment.
