Le Bureau/ is a collective of curators with headquarters in Paris, whose aim is to question and investigate exhibition as a media. The decision for a collective curators’ practice enabled encounter of different competencies and sensibilities. Consequently, Le Bureau/ realized exhibitions based on manifold reading of works: 35h in the Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers , Paris (2004); Nuages fig.1 in the vestibule of Maison Rouge, Paris (2006); La muraille opaque grimpe en quinconce et inversement à RLBQ - Marseille (2007). http://www.lebureau.tk
Nuages fig.2: Michael Dietrich, Marina Gadonneix, Yannick Koller, Miguel Angel Molina, Clémentine Roy
Conceived for a singular space in the Belgrade Fortress, the exhibition Nuages fig.2 proposes a selection of works presented in slide format, hanging within original optical viewers. Chosen in reference to a work of Marcel Broodthaers of 1967, the title refers both to the opening up of the image and representation as well, as to the minimal and random aspect of the arrangement.
This presentation plays on a virtual multiplication of the exhibition space and facilitates the exhibition of series of works of each artist. It thus allows one to consider at the same time the singularity of the works, registered within the closed framework of the optical viewer, and their comparison, seen at a glance, quick or attentive, selective or exhaustive, of the spectator – the resultant visual combinations depending on the trajectory taken by each individual.
Nuages fig.2 oscillates between the reality of an exhibition driven along mental pathways and the fiction of an exhibition which will hardly leave a trace.
he images of artists’ works or work-images are viewed as screens and/or open spaces including film fragments or photographic scenes (Yannick Koller, Michael Dietrich), graphic or monochromic repetitions (Marina Gadonneix), virtual works or traces of installations (Miguel Angel Molina, Clémentine Roy).
