In mid 1990s a few bold individuals decided to start independent publishing activities. Among initiatives with different approach to publishing was also Beopolis, founded in 1995. After opening a bookshop in the lobby of the Youth Centre, Beopolis soon became a synonym for new literature and the place where one could find specific editions of small publishers. In parallel with the bookshop, under the auspices of Beopolis were published tenths of books of prose, poetry, studies in the field of contemporary music and visual arts, cartoons, as well as a few music editions, mainly of younger domestic and foreign authors. Promotions that accompanied the publishing, which were organized in different places, spaces and towns in Serbia and former SFRY, always were an interesting and provocative multimedia event, positioning Beopolis as one of the most important points on the Belgrade cultural map.

At BELEF 07 Beopolis is presenting itself with the promotion of the latest book by Danijel Kovač "The Empire", through a mini concert of the groups "Jesenji orkestar" (The Autumn Orchestra) and "Izgubljeni vikend Vladimira Kolarića" (The Lost Weekend of Vladimir Kolarić).
