BELEF in coproduction with British Council Belgrade presents:
New Work
Mystery, enchantment and gravity. Charles Linehan has developed his own clear choreographic language drawing on the individual human qualities of his dancers. A series of connected and unconnected episodes is performed by five dancers from Belgrade and Bucharest, saturated in white light and propelled by a surging score played live from Belgradeyard Sound System members, Goran Simonosky and Ivan Antic, using from samples of Macedonian folk music.
New Work is a result of a joint work between the British Council-a and NGO „Station – contemporary dance service“in the area of contemporary dance education. This is a follow up of a two-week dance workshop that Charles Linehan held in Belgrade in February 2006, working with 25 dancers from Belgrade and South-East Europe region.
Grand Junction
Rigorously choreographed and densely atmospheric, Charles Linehan’s duet is driven by Julian Swales' compositions of cyclical acoustic guitar samples. Grand Junction explores the shifting psychology and terrain of the relationship between the two performers, Karl Paquemar and Andreja Rauch, through an inspired, detailed and unsparing physicality.
Grand Junction was originally commissioned by Dance Umbrella Festival, London and premiered in Thessalonica in 2002. It has toured throughout Europe, USA and Canada.
