New York’s Slavic Soul Party is the best band from the Big Apple which is specialised in Balkan music. After four years of gigs in New York clubs and throughout America, a CD release and two European tours, they are finally coming to the Balkan music heartland – Serbia. They seek inspiration but also aim to enthral you with their unconventional approach. Some of the busiest New York musicians, who were playing jazz, klezmer and Balkan music, got together as part of this project not only to play and copy the music of the best known Balkan bands but also to incorporate their own original components into this music. This is why you will be able to hear elements of Romanian, Serbian, Turkish and Romany music, but in a totally New Yorkish way. Hence, come to the opening of the Belgrade Summer Festival on July 10 for an "ultra party" – the Slavic Soul Party!
