Irena Kelecevic
Irena Kelecevic was born in 1975 in Rijeka,
Croatia. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade
and acquired her MA degree from the same faculty. Irena Kelecevic
was also granted scholarship by the Foundation for the Development
of the Scientific and Artistic Youth of the Republic of Serbia.
She also benefited from the Royal Norwegian scholarship.
Installation The Space
A toilet is by its purpose an intimate space
hiding private things that everyone wants to keep to oneself,
therefore the inside of the toilet should be closed for other
peoples’ eyes. Following that main purpose of the toilet, I endeavored
to take out or erase its forming parts thus achieving the materialization
of the non-material, i.e. the air. In such a way a person from
outside can now have the access to this room/space but only as
to a non-living cast.
