Slobodan Sijan
Slobodan Sijan is a renowned film director from
former Yugoslavia. He earned a BA in Painting and a Terminal Degree
in Film Directing from University of Arts in Belgrade. Sijan directed
10 feature films for the big screen and television. His films
have won many international awards and made the 10 Best lists
of LA Weekly, LA Herald Examiner, Film Comment, New Times, etc.
He was Artist in Residence at the University of Southern California
(1984-85) on a Fulbright Grant, and also a Visiting Professor
there in 1994. He published books on John Ford, Hitchcock, Jean-Marie
Straub and wrote criticism for Yugoslavian and French film magazines.
