Performance Departure=Return Andate=Return
The idea: When one lives in two places simultaneously
(in my case those places are Belgrade – Milan) every departure
is also a return. Question: When you ask for the time of return,
it could be understood twofold – to Belgrade or to Milan? The
main idea is for the act of arrival or return (an everyday performance)
to become a performance. The airport, no-place, the place of transit
becomes the venue of the performance, the passengers, passers
by become the audience, and for just a moment the “art” becomes
equal with the life. This of course in ironic sense. There are
many keys as to how to read this, one of which could be of the
sociology nature – the departure and the return of Serbs. But
this performance would like to avoid the dramatic dilemma: here
or there? Both here and there. It is my wish that my road to the
airplane or entrance into the building is being shot (checking
for the luggage, going through the customs) the whole ritual,
at the end of which will be my intervention on the wall, the portraits
of the passengers – audience. (An interesting folklore element
could be two children dressed in the national costume).
The project is being continued with the idea
of Era Milivojevic at the Kalemegdan Park.
