Cinema Club - Old Movies
Academic film center has been founded in 1958
and named Akademski kino klub (Academic Cinema Club). During its
relatively long history, and owing to the authors working within
it (Kokan Rakonjac, Zivojin Pavlovic, Dragoslav Lazic, Sava Trifkovic,
Tomislav Gotovac, Milan Jelic, Radoslav Vladic, Ivan Obrenov,
Vjekoslav Nakic, Nikola Djuric, Bojan Jovanovic, Miodrag Milosevic,
Miloje Radakovic, Dejan Vlaisavljevic, Igor Toholj, Bob Milosevic…),
has become one of the most significant and most rewarded film
clubs in the country. Since 1976 the Center has been active within
the “Studentski Grad” (Students’ City) Cultural Center and is
the only cinema club to “survive” in this area. Possessing more
than 500 movies and video clips created in the Center and with
a huge collection of avant-garde film and video clips of other
authors, the Center has founded an Alternative Film Archive being
in charge of this valuable film inheritance. In addition to a
significant number of film projections and lectures, film schools
and workshops, the Center also organized two significant festivals:
STAF (1967-1970) and ALTERNATIVE FILM VIDEO (1982-1990). With
current production of some 20 movies a year, the Center remains
the only place in which young people can work on the film medium.
