Duet Coxless pair is formed in 1999. in Belgrade
by Dusan Petrovic and Boris Mladenovic with an idea to start a
series of the VIRTUAL – PHYSICAL JAM – SESSIONS live with audience
and with intention to invigorate Old & New, Live & Dead,
Famous & Unknown, JAZZ & Not Jazz. They started sessions
in January 2000 and this wasl going on for a while once a month
as a part of the “Step Across The Border” program at the club
of Belgrade Youth Cultural Centre. For every session they had
different guests and different tracks. In April 2000 they signed
for Cosmic sounds and the May Session with Boris Bunjac on vibraphone
is purposely recorded for their debut album on COSMIC SOUNDS.
DJ Munja was a resident DJ of COXLESS PAIR and
in charge of scratching. Scratching gets completely different
meaning in his case. The guy plays turntables. This is a real
musical instrument for him.
Boris Bunjac plays vibraphone for Belgrade’s
Philharmonic. He was a guest artist at that May 2000 concert that
was recorded for their debut album “Contemplation”.
Sonja Loncar is playing piano and studying composition
in Belgrade. She has joined the band in spring 2002.
Fedja Franklin is a percussionist from London
who moved to Belgrade. He was a member of Akwaba People and few
more London based bands and still playing with Celloman. He started
playing with Coxless pair in summer 2002.
